Professional Learning Environment

I found the PLN difficult. There are so many people and things we connect with in our lives, that are resources for how we teach and plan.

Networking Evidence

I decided to create a screencast for evidence of my networking.

EVIDENCE

Podcast

I had a hard time with voicethread.  I used the tutorial. I could not comment on anything. I had no problem creating my own. I could have my students record raps about the environment. I could have students create raps about important scientist. This voice thread is about the Itsy Bitsy Spider and how it can represent the water cycle. The students could use this to show higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy.

WEB 2.0 Cool Tool

I love the mix book website. I am having my students create a book about different organism. Each student must complete a page on a Invertebrate, Vertebrate, and Plant. I could use this website to publish a book that other teachers in my building could use and students would be proud to say they made.

Google Docs #2

This is a presentation I created to review sexual reproduction in my science class.  I really like google documents.  I love that I can pull up these documents anywhere. I can see using something like this for students to complete a group presentation.  Especially if I assign each group member specific slides.  That way students recieve a group and individual grade. I would have a hard time show this presentation in my classroom because, we do not have wifi accesss.  I need to figure out what I can do about that.  If anyone as any suggestions I would appreciate it.  I want to use a presentation assignment for my seventh grade students. I want to show them create a presentation about the changes in an environment overtime. I could also have students complete their article weekly article assignment in google documents.

Google Doc#1

I created a form that students can use to turn in a project idea assignment. My students are complete a program called GREAT. It is intended to prevent gangs. What I really like about the program, is that it empowers the students to  change their community and school, by making choices. The final project each student  or group of students must complete is school/community project. Students must design and complete the project during the course.  I created a from that students can turn in project ideas.

Album Assignment

I would have students create a slide show like this to demostrate the steps they used to complete a project in class. They show how they worked as group or individually to complete their science fair.  I think this would be a good way to show the scientific process.

Online Photo Album

I am adding my online photo album of my classroom from last year.  I hope to add more photos from my classroom this year.  I am going to use these photos to create a slide show of student projects.  SHINE SCIENCE

Screencast

I have tried to use the screencast-o-matic in my classroom.  I had students create screen cast on various topics. One class did Acceleration.  One class completed screen cast on the metric system.  Many of my students did not choose to the complete the assignment. I created a rubric for the assignment. 25 points for each recquirement.  Here is an example of one of the screen cast my students created.  I did not inclued their grade.  I will do this assignment again.  I will have students create them in a computer lab, with microphones. I really wish my students had laptops to complete the assignment individually at home.

Webquest

I am adding my webquest to my blog. I hope to use it with my 8th students this year. I really think my job as a middle school teacher is not just to teach the curriculum but to prepare students for the high school and what ever life hold for them after that. So my webquest speaks to that goal. Enjoy! Use it if you like. Let me know if you have any suggestion for me to add. Thanks CLICK HERE

Look at my Quiz for Seventh Grade

I am really trying hard to understand how to use technology in my classroom.  I have created an online quiz. All of my followers take the quiz to see how you do.

Comments

Guess what? I have posted a comment on someone else's  blog. I think I am all that with a bag of chips and a Pepsi on the side. As you can see, I also figured out how to change my font color.

Blog/Picture/Design

I am so proud of myself. I actually created a blog. I am supposed to add a picture of myself, but I don't like to take pictures. So, I added a picture of my boys. I have some ideas rolling around in my head about how to use google documents in my classroom and for my classes. I'll keep you posted(LOL) on that.
